Pegasus spyware is a malware designed by an Israeli company i.e. NSO group to be used as an effective method of spying. The company stated that it used this spyware to prevent many potential terror activities against Israel. Pegasus spyware is highly effective on android as well as ios. It works in the following ways; A link might be sent to you through an email and as soon as you click on the link your device is infected and intruded. There also might be a missed call on your device through which your device could be intruded, after intruding the missed call information is immediately deleted without you getting even a single hint.
The company defended itself saying that the software could be used only by the government or the supreme authority of different countries, no individual has access to it. There are approximately 50,000 cases of intrusion through Pegasus out of which 300 are of Indians.
Among the 300 cases found in India, 40 of them are associated to journalists, 3 of them from the opposition party and 2 of them were linked to the current ministers. However it is worth thinking about the reasons of such cyber intrusion in India to be specific.
As only governments have an access to the software we might think of other countries such as China who might have laid a conspiracy against India but this possibility is highly unlikely to happen as there is nothing some other country would get by intruding the devices of journalists or other mentioned, if this was the case then devices of bigger representatives and leaders would have been attacked.
This leaves us with only one possibility of whom might be benifited out of it. Yes, it’s our own government. In reply to this the government said that all such actions are governed by the authorities in order to preserve the country’s interests.
We as common people should not be much worried about such threat as there are some procedures which are to be followed in which extraction of any personal elements such as pictures in order to have a personal attack on any individual is prohibited and there might not be anything suspicious present in our devices considering that an individual is a common person.

We can conclude by saying that the malware is really effective in protecting the country’s interests but very dangerous if misused. Common people are very unlikely to be affected and even if they are affected, the privacy will be preserved.
